RE: Week 20 Futures - Poland F1 ($15K) - Katowice - Clay

Hope so. Dan won their only match so far, last year in Sheffield. At the time Semjan was seeded and Dan was ranked 900+

Don't want to jinx his chances, but surely a chance of a semi-final place? pray.gif

Er? The ATP drawsheet/OoP suggests that Semjan went out to Koniusz today.

QF: (2) Dan Smethurst WR 337 v (WC) Blazej Koniusz (POL) WR 833

Koniusz is on a 4-match Brit-bashing streak since losing 2 & 3 to Jamie Baker in Jersey in 2007, beating Jewitt the following week and then getting 3-set wins v Slabba and Dr No in 2008, the year he hit a CH of 445. He then beat the Wardinator in R1 this week, it would be nice if Dan could avenge that defeat!

That's weird!  My apologies. ashamed I took the result from the semi-live scoreboard on the tournament site which is now showing it the other way round (hard to miss the winner of a match when they put a gold star beside his name! wink ).  That said, I had to correct a couple of scores earlier today which I'd got the wrong way round on my copy of the draw sheet! confuse

Don't worry, it's hard enough getting this kind of stuff right without the tournament sites misleading you!

It will be worthwhile checking the ATP site later for the confirmation of the result. You never know, they may have made another Ballsami Upami!

I think in this case the WC may disguise someone coming back from injury as the name of his conquerer rings a bell
