Mhairi Brown and Jamie Murray have beaten Nanfuka and Mugabe of Uganda 6-2 6-4. Anna Smith and Ross Hutchins have beaten Lambert and Thomas of Bermuda 6-1 6-2 Jos Rae and Colin Fleming have beaten Sally Peers and Matt Ebden of Auastralia 3-6 6-3 6-1.
Rae and Fleming now play Mirza and Paes, with Brown and Murray playing Rodianova and Hanley. Tough.
Borwell and Skupski play Watson and Ogier, Smith and Hutchins play Ghosh and Patel of Mauritius. I won't make the obvious joke!
Tomorrow Colin Fleming plays Chis Lewis, Jamie Murray gets centre stage to play Rodney Carey of the Bahamas. Ross Hutchins plays Aqeel Khan of Pakistan.
Heather Watson takes on Tara Lambert of Bermuda, Anna Smith plays Antonette Muttiah of Sri Lanka and Amanda Carreras plays Tiriata Keeba of Kiribati.
Many doubles being played. Brown and Rae take on the Lamberts of Bermuda. Of the Men's pairings only trouble looks like the match between Fleming/Murray and the second seeds Devvarman and Bopanna. I think one mixed quarter is scheduled involving Brown/Murray against Rodionova/Hanley.
Not that we will see very much on Freeview! Happy viewing.
Mhairi Brown had a tough draw in this tournament but as a coach primarily she should not have been selected. Should have been Nik Slater who is ranked and on the tour. Nothing personal against Mhairi but she is not on themain tour. However she is well in with Tennis Scotland as is the coach at Craiglockhart.
Great to see Heather, Amanda and Anna cruising through. It's a shame Mhairi got such a tough round 1 draw. While on the subject of Mhairi, I guess you could say there might have been stronger candidates, and I guess as a Tennis Scotland coach she did have an "in". However after watching her reaction to her defeat you cannot really doubt her commitment to representing her country.
The British girls were in imperious form, with 18 year old Heather Watson, representing Guernsey, leading the way, winning 6-0, 6-0 against Tara Lambert of Bermuda.
There was also a 6-0, 6-0 win for England's Anna Smith, against Amritha Muttiah of Sri Lanka, who commented afterwards:
"It was a day when I had to focus and concentrate as it was very hot and I didn't want to get bogged down and I guess I did ok [judging] by the score!"
To complete the set Amanda Carreras of Gibraltar also won 6-0, 6-0, defeating Tiriata Keeba of Kiribati.
In the men's singles event there was an all British affair as Colin Fleming of Scotland took on Chris Lewis of Wales, with the Scot triumphing after a three set battle, winning 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.
"We were both near to exhaustion in unbelievably hot temperatures", said Fleming afterwards, "My proudness playing for Scotland was key as it's really amazing to represent Scotland here. I drank four and a half litres of fluid during the match and two before."
There was also a hard-fought victory for Ross Hutchins who defeated Aqeel Khan of Pakistan 6-2, 7-6(3). "It was so hot and humid and I dreaded it going to three sets," said the Englishman.
"Considering how little singles I play I was pleased to have a win. Shakes and fluids now before my doubles."
Hutchins then partnered Ken Skupski to victory against the Sri Lankan's Godamanna & Rajapakse in round one of the men's doubles. The British pair won 6-2, 6-1 to book their place in the next round.
Scotland had a second singles winner in the form of Jamie Murray as he beat Rodney Carey of the Bahamas 6-2, 7-5.
Patrick Ogier of Guernsey was also in singles action, but went down 6-3, 6-2 to the third seed and world No.165, Matt Ebden of Australia.
There have also been doubles victories today for James Ward & Josh Goodall winning 6-2, 6-2 against Mwangi & Okoth of Kenya in the men's event.
Finally in the men's doubles, Welsh duo Josh Milton & Chris Lewis of Wales also won in straight sets against Mullings & Rolle of the Bahamas.
In the women's event there was further Scottish success as Mhairi Brown & Jocelyn Rae defeated the Bermudan Lambert sisters 6-2, 6-1.
And Brown later re-took to the court for the mixed doubles quarter-finals with partner Jamie Murray against tricky Australian opposition and top seeds Rodionova & Hanley, the latter going on to win the match 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals.
Anna Smith has beaten Ghosh 6-4 6-1. She plays Sally Peers in the Quarter Finals.
From Tennis Australia via Alex @ ACE: "Peers beat Mahir from the Maldives in just 26 minutes today - the 2nd set took 10 minutes, Peer losing just one point in it."
How must that make the player from St Vincent & the Grenadines who lost 3 & 2 to Mahir in R1 feel?

Comments from Heather WATSON (GGY) after her 7-6, 6-3 victory over Poojashree VENKATESHA (IND) in the second round of the Women's Singles at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium on Wednesday.
Heather WATSON (GGY)
On her performance:
"I've been sick for the last couple of days, so I was happy with the way I fought through."
On her opponent:
"I've played her before at the Youth Games. The score was more one-sided in my favour then. She's improved a lot."
On her physical condition:
"If I'd lost the first set, I'm not sure I could have got through three sets today. But I was never going to pull out. That's not what I do. Hopefully I'll be better for the next match as that will be tougher."
On representing Guernsey:
"It's great. I've had a lot of support. My Guernsey crowd were in today, and a few from Jersey, as well, which was really nice."
