RE: Entries Week 40: Commonwealth Games

thats a shame, but i still think that if an athlete isn't going to feel comfortable over there i've no idea how they are expected to perform.

i think Boggo is glad he gave this one a miss, i discussed his last visit to India with him and he said that the hotel they stayed on had no glass in the windows and the courts weren't even finished when they turned up to play!!

NEW DELHI - Snake catchers in New Delhi said on Monday they had removed an adult cobra from the newly built tennis centre that will be used next week for the Commonwealth Games.

'We were requested by the Games authorities to help them rescue a snake spotted in the R.K. Khanna tennis stadium,' Kartick Satyanarayan, head of animal conservation group Wildlife SOS India, told AFP.

On Sunday, South African High Commissioner Harris Mbulelo Mejeke also complained about a snake found in one of the rooms of his country's athletes in the Games village.

Guess which GB rag was the first to pick up on this one:

I am beginning to understand everyone's concerns ashamed

However, I feel very sorry for the organisers as there seems a conspiracy to ensure that the games fail. For example the BBC knows that the picture of the dirty sink was actually in the workers quarters yet they continue to show it as  an example of conditions in the players accommodation.

I've emailed the ITF organiser to ask if the full entry lists are available somewhere (They're pretty well hidden if they are!) so I'll let you know if he gets back to me.

You've got to think Somdev on home turf and Peter Luczak are the favourites from that list.

I think Aisam and Rohan will be pretty hot property too

The Indians would like to think so wink

Tom from the ITF has confirmed that there is no definitive list available yet. Apparently the policy of the Delhi OC and the CGF is not to release participant lists for each sport until every country's CG Association has completed their delgeation registration meeting and those won't be completed until 3 October. The draw takes place on 1 October, so that's the first we'll know.

The wolf seems to have done a very good job of getting close to a full list for the men's singles though!
