Given that he played San Remo last week, I'm guessing Smethurst was original going to try to qualify for the Biella Challenger in Italy, but decided this was a better bet when he saw the acceptance list.

Yes, I too tend to think that this is some change of mind rather than forgetfullness.

going to watch qualies tomorrow anyone you would recomend having a look at apart from Farquhason & Morgan

hope it's warmer up here tomorrow that it has been today mind I found the perfect spot last year out of the wind and in the sun if there is any LOL & you can see courts 4,5 & 6, it's very exposed viewing courts 14 & 15 and typically Farquhason & Morgan are both on court 14

I'd look out for El Menshawy and Short too, but they both seem very inconsistent so don't be surprised if they both lose very tamely.

3 gurannteed qualifiers and looks like Feaver, Illingworth and Aldridge made the MD, so along with the 4 brit WC's should see 15 brits in the MD at least

results that I know of having watched these matches

CLUSKEY, James (IRL) 1 vs. EL MENSHAWY, Ahmed (GBR) UNR 4-6 6-1 7-6(7-4) biggrin

really good result

Ahmed raced ahead to a 3-0 lead only for something to upset the momentum his serve went to pot, for every good stroke he made he hit three bad ones lost the first set 4-6, back he comes & only loses one game in the second set the third set was a much tighter affair trading breaks of serve at one point he was 3-5 by this time the Irish lads had turned up to give suport to their man didn't help much he was tight missing shots clipping the net hitting them into the net t'was a good match to watch

FARQUHARSON, Tom (GBR) UNR vs. ISAAKS, Rowan (GBR)biggrinno UNR really like the look of Farquharson seems to buy himself loads of time on the ball,

routine win 6-2 6-0 Isaaks is a bit on the short side

PRITCHARD, Ben (GBR) 6 vs. GLASSPOOL, Lloyd (GBR) 6-3 6-1disbeliefbiggrin this kid really impressed me I would have said one to watch having seen him play today his variaty of shot, construction of the point were all fabulous but his results to date both junior and senior don't bear this impression out

http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/players/activity.asp?player=100134208

by this time I was utterly frozen disbeliefdisbelief

Where are the 4 guaranteed? According to the draw posted above, I could see only 2, plus we now have the extra one courtesy of El Menshawy's win.

I got access to the OOP shortly but it went quick to not available

I believe Short beat 5th seed Ask :)

And Burton and Morgan both won

so updated FQR:

EL MENSHAWY, Ahmed (GBR) UNR vs. FARQUHARSON, Tom (GBR) UNR

ORTEGA-OLMEDO, Roberto (ESP) 2 vs. STERLAND-MARKOVIC, Stefan (GBR) UNR

CAVADAY, Nick (GBR) 3 vs. BANT, Jarryd (GBR)

LOPEZ-PEREZ, Enrique (ESP) 4 vs. HAZELWOOD, Francis (GBR)

SHORT, Matthew (GBR) vs. KONOV, Simon (GBR)

GLASSPOOL, Lloyd (GBR) vs. VILARDO, Francesco (ITA)

ROSENZWEIG, Nicolas (FRA) 7 vs. SINCLAIR, Daniel (GBR)

BURTON, Lewis (GBR) vs. MORGAN, George (GBR) 9
