I was quite surprised to see Anna back this early. Couldn't have been too bad an injury. However, with any adductor injury, playing on clay in particular would be tricky, as the strain on the inside of the thigh when sliding would not have felt very comfortable.
Yes, given it's only 2 weeks since the injury I can't imagine Anna has been back fit and practising for very long at all, and if you add that to as I said she only had one competitive set in a month ( possibly a partly injured set ) then the result is maybe not too surprising.
Even if the injury wasn't actually causing trouble she may still have been very wary in her movements.
Obviously we don't know the full facts, but she maybe could of taken another week off.
Methinks the rushed comeback is partly due to the knowledge that she needs the ranking points in order to get into that all important top 250 to be considered for main draw WC for Wimby. It may backfire though if that is the case because playing when not 100% fit is never a great idea. The LTA should give her some leeway if that is indeed the case.

Yes, good point, it must be a real possibility that Anna is thinking quite a bit about a Wimbledon WC and as you suggest that's a potential danger.
Anna is sitting in 269th place on 176 points with nothing to defend until July ( although would need be replacing some points ) so 250th on possibly just over 200 points must seem to be so near but so far with just until June 7th to get there if the LTA stick solidly to their Main Draw WC recommendations.
Anna - was it that she came back too early or was it that it was her first full match on Clay this year? I wonder what it is about Julia Mayr that both our girls have struggled with this year, I know she's had some wins on clay but she's still only just inside 300.
Poor poor poor. I'm beginning to think Brescia was an aberration and not any significant improvement in her overall form. The venue in Brescia must have for some reason brought the best out of her game that week.
I think there might be more to this loss than meets the eye. Pavlovic is a lower ranked player, and hasn't had particulary impressive results over the past 6 months, however she has beaten Naomi before, on grass no less, so perhaps Irena's game is problematic for Cav? Or it is as Phil says, and Brescia was an abberration....hopefully not.....
