I know, such a straight series of wins makes me sceptical as to where the catch is! Hopefully Naomi has just stepped her game up a level, though I did wonder whether this virus of hers, like all viruses, would take time to get out of the system fully & despite Naomi feeling better it may have just held her back from maximising her game and training.

With any great week, its only as good as her next win. We need her to back it up now, which her draw next week wont make easy though her winning streak has to be amazing for the confidence. Perhaps cutting the doubles out now shes comfortable would be a good idea.

Looks like she took your advice Murray - she's not entered the doubles this week! Good luck Naomi, make it back to back titles.

In normal circumstances you would say this could be a tricky opener but after last week surely straightforward.

The other seed in Naomi's quarter (No 2 seed Rebecca Marino) went out yesterday to an Italian WC. Lets hope Naomi can take advantage of it.

Cav's coach reports:

"Naomi lost 6-1,6-0. Totally bizarre and uncoordinated performance today. She did well to get a game to be fair!!"

The enigma which is Miss Cav hopefully just a reaction to last weeks win but still hugely disappointing.

ooo that is shocking, I expected her to at least make semi's after the 2nd seed lost. I hope she's ok and it was just a bad day at the office - must have been a very bad day mind you.

Maybe she's shouldn't have taken Murray's advice and played the doubs!!
