Ah pity re Lisa. Lim has though risen over 200 places to her current CH of WR 523 this season with a 10K title ( beating WR 298 Piquion in the final ) and 10K final appearance at the start of this year ( were in Guadeloupe so otherwise not the strongest of fields )
Good to see Tara getting the win, even if a bit of a struggle. That's so far 10 points in total she has accumulated last week and this week to offest the 14 points she is losing from this week last year.
Poor Fitzy, I really do hope it isn't any major setback again.

SF: (8) Tara Moore defeated WR 593 (5) Alizé Lim (FRA) WR 527 by 0-6 6-4 6-4!
Final:
(3) Timea Babos (HUN) WR 511 vs (8) Tara Moore defeated WR 593
Surely a title chance?
Have you written her off for the final already?
Nope. Merely copied & pasted one word too many in my excitement! Serves me right, I suppose, for not previewing my original post before I submitted it, as I usually do. Now duly amended.
Tara lost 6-2 6-2, but a good week with two finals. Interesting titbit from the LTA story on yesterday's men's final: Timea Babos & Tara Moore share the same coach and are regular practice partners.
Those waiting to see how Babos did the rest of the week before putting Eleanor Dean's first round effort into context may now proceed...

I saw Eleanor against Babos and was mightly impressed by Eleanor. Eleanor has powerful ground strokes and was not in the least bit over awed by babos. Eleanor stood out by a mile compared to some of the other girls. With a kinder draw she would have progressed a couple of rounds, definitely one that i will be watching her progress
Although it is a pity to see Tara lose the final and the tournament has been a bit disappointing overall for the British women after a pretty good Bournemouth, it has been really good to see Eleanor and Fran reinforce the positive impressions from Bournemouth.
Eleanor's first ranking point vs Ruth Seaborne last week and competitive scorelines vs Tara and Babos in successive weeks I find very encouraging for the future. I too will certainly be watching her future progress with much interest.
Fran, being more than a couple of years older than Eleanor, is maybe not quite such a prospect on the face of it, but still these 2 weeks have really shown that she has something about her and that was a very good scoreline vs Lisa this week.
Re Tara, hopefully getting these wins have given her a bit of confidence and the points from the last 2 weeks have been well timed. She now gained 23 points this year and has only 16 points to defend the rest of the year after this week, so hopefully can make upwards progress and at least aim to get herself back into the top 500. May be worth playing quite a few more 10Ks for the moment to continue to bulid more coinfidence, see how these go and the maybe step up again in a few months.

Seems Tara was struggling a bit with a stomach injury in the final, which she said hurt on serve. It is described as "recurring" so I do hope it is not going to cause her any real ongoing problems.
After her 2 month absence with an ankle injury, Timea said that she was really tired and nervous in her first match ( vs Eleanor ) but after that she says she played really well.

Clearly Babos was below par for her match against Eleanor. Playing against a 14 year old with immense talent would cerainly not have been a pleasant experience. However the fact that Babos was so nervous is testament to the fact that Babos knew that Eleanor presented a very tricky opening match.
Babos' match against Dean last week was a long drawn out affair. Played on the large centre court, they took ages to retrieve the balls between points. Babos looked very down and dispondant in the first set and looked like losing it easily to Dean, who was playing very well. It was puzzling at the time but understandable if it was her first match back after injury.
It is the mark of a great player that they hang on in and gradually she turned things around, winning the tie break in a set which had looked lost at one stage. A tense tie break in which both players had set points was eventually won by Babos 13-11. It seems to have perked her up and she did very well after that, dropping very few games in the rest of the week. She was an excellent junior and will surely be on the main WTA circuit in a year or two.
Eleanor seemed to have good power off the ground, which is not something a lot of British girls can manage on clay. She looks a real prospect for the future.
