How come the 7th seed is higher ranked than the top seed?

Tara, shocking scoreline. Congrats to Fran on her great run, shes up against another Brit who isnt a stranger to having a great run totally out of the blue. Lisa for the title now!

It's because Bergot has a recent final appearance in a 25K in Egypt, which has just been added to the rankings on Monday, and the seedings were based on the previous Monday.  At that time she was ranked 532 and Sanduska 415.  Lisa incidentally is 6th seed and was ranked 523 at the relevant date, before her Kazakhstan points were added.

I guess that recent 25K, where she beat three top 300ers on the way, shows that Bergot is in good form though even then still a bit of a shocking scoreline against Tara.

Anyway, great stuff from Lisa and really good for Fran too, however that particular win came about.

Very surprised Fran has made the semis here, she was solid but unspectacular against Vickers who basically beat herself. Should give Lisa a tight match having not dropped a set so far although it she was lucky her opponent pulled out today.

Don't know why they aren't using centre court for the men's final and the semis tomorrow. Granted it is right at the other end of the centre but it's only about a 50 metre walk from the clubhouse. Surely playing the more important matches in a bit of a stadium would make sense.

Well done Lisa and Fran! I think Lisa will be too strong for Fran but she has had a couple of long 3 setters so it could be interesting.

Great to see 4 Brits in the 1/4's, and two unranked!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/uk_results/default.stm

You can usually find it on a google search. Try something like uk tennis results bbc or something similar and it will be at the top.
