Sod's law as it applies to Brits stikes again: there are now only three seeds left in the draw, namely Lilia Osterloh (3), Michaella Krajicek (5) and...
QF: Laura Robson WR 269 vs (8) Anastasia Yakimova (BLR) WR 143!
Yakimova is carrying an injury and Laura not only has a realistic chance of winning this match but also the tournament given the lack of any star names being left in the draw. There is no Gallovits left in the draw this week.
Jo Konta (AUS/GBR) & Lena Litvak (USA) WR 882 lost to Kimberly Couts & Tetiana Luzhanska (USA/UKR) WR 397 by 4 & 5
Only to be expected, I suppose, but at least they won four more games than the second seeds, whom Couts & Luzhanska beat in the first round. Jo & Lena put out the Yanks, Brittany Augustine & Jennifer Elie (WR 797) in the first round.
* Thanks for the assessment of Laura's prospects in the singles QF, Phil.
seems that there is only one match on court 1, and all others on court 3, including evening feature session. not too sure what this means for live scoring, dont know of bet365 will change the court they cover, even if they can. btw laura is on court 3, second on
I'd imagine their live scoring consists of someone in the crowd with a laptop and a 3G card, so shouldn't be too hard to move. The #1 seed was knocked out by the girl Laura beat last week, so there are definite possibilities here, especially if her next opponent isn't fully fiit.
She has tendonitus in the knee and during lasts week final her leg was heavily bandaged. Its not enough for her not to play but it clearly inhibits her slightly. She has struggled to take out her opponents this week and I would conclude she is not 100%.
There was a report about her injury in a local newspaper article a couple of weeks ago.
