Every year I forget how topsy turvy clay court matches can be... As this match shows, keeping momentum is key. Great win from Anne, her points from last year defended and a chance to take a crack at a seed that she has beaten in the past (though also loss to on clay).
Anne's win could give her a DA into Wimbledon after withdrawals, another win would guarantee it.
Katie needs to reach the QF's to give herself a good chance, and has started well taking the first set 6-2 against Parmentier, losing only 6 points on serve.
It's only this week and next week before the entry deadline.

Katie's first service percentage in is quite high, as is her first service percentage points won. Katie's service always used to be rather erratic but from this it looks as if it might be improving.
Great win for Katie in a match for which she was the clear outsider. Dare I say it working her way back into some sort of form.
As for Anne winning a match during which you lose a set only winning 5 points is a remarkable achievement. Outside chance against Navarro in next round.
Voracova beat Parmentier on clay at Acapulco 6 & 6, so maybe we should anticipate a close one... Alhough she has just won 2 25ks on clay, Cairo was incredibly weak (256 was her highest win) and her 5 Civitavecchia wins included 2 walkovers and a retirement!!
