RE: Week 17 - WTA International ($220K) - Fes, Morocco Clay

Every year I forget how topsy turvy clay court matches can be... As this match shows, keeping momentum is key. Great win from Anne, her points from last year defended and a chance to take a crack at a seed that she has beaten in the past (though also loss to on clay).

Looks like she had a coffee break and a quick snack wink in the second set to recharge herself. Managed to win despite winning fewer points overall. smile

Anne's win could give her a DA into Wimbledon after withdrawals, another win would guarantee it.

Katie needs to reach the QF's to give herself a good chance, and has started well taking the first set 6-2 against Parmentier, losing only 6 points on serve.

It's only this week and next week before the entry deadline.

Good to see Anne winning on clay at WTA level. Hope for another one and DA to wimbledon.

I was shocked to see Katie serve the first set out with aces too, but then she got broken straight away in the 2nd set.

*2-0 Adv Parmentier

Back on serve now, Katie 4-3 down.

Katie blew it big time, had 0-30 at 4-4, then led 40-15 at 4-5 to level, lost the next four points, the set and most likely the match

Not all over yet, Katie quickly fell behind 2-0 but has now pulled it back to 2-2 despite being taken to deuce from 40-0 up.

You only have to look at Anne's match to see how quickly things can turn around, no doubt there will still be a few more breaks to come.

Katie's first service percentage in is quite high, as is her first service percentage points won. Katie's service always used to be rather erratic but from this it looks as if it might be improving.

It's been stuck for around 10 minutes now with Katie leading by a break at *3-2 40-0.

Hopefully it won't take as long as Boggo's match to release an official result.

Great win for Katie in a match for which she was the clear outsider. Dare I say it working her way back into some sort of form.

As for Anne winning a match during which you lose a set only winning 5 points is a remarkable achievement. Outside chance against Navarro in next round.

Voracova beat Parmentier on clay at Acapulco 6 & 6, so maybe we should anticipate a close one... Alhough she has just won 2 25ks on clay, Cairo was incredibly weak (256 was her highest win) and her 5 Civitavecchia wins included 2 walkovers and a retirement!!
