You would pick Smethurst for his rankings rise and age rather than on his grass court pedigree, he doesnt have the game for grass from what ive seen

it's the problem with only having grasscourt tournies in our country, we can't spend our WCs trully perfectly

but WCs for Inglot, Eaton, Goodall, Marray would be taking the biscuit i reckon...even if they would perform the best

Well Eaton has got more points than Smethurst this year and has the game for grass so would not have a problem with him getting one.

22 year old Eaton the one event wonder? vs 19 year old Smethurst who's been consistent throughout the past 12 months

P.S. by "one event wonder" i was referring to his 15K Futures win, not Wimble run

Eaton would put up more of a battle against that standard of players than Smethy on grass by far.

Re discussions about how the guys are getting on this year and possible WCs, I thought it worth looking at ranking points earned this year.

14 guys have earned more than 10 ranking points incl. points not yet officially added :

1.  Andy M   1705
2.  Alex B         85
3.  James W    55
4.  Josh G        46
5.  Dan E         43
6.  Jamie B      40
7.  Chris E       37
8.  Dan S         36
9.  Alex S         27
10 Alex W        25
11 Dominic I     19
12 Sean T        18
13 Morgan P    13
14 David R       11

One thing worth noting is that though Evo had a big drop in the rankings when his Jersey points came off, now with his last couple of weeks he has earned more points this year than Dan Smethurst and will also climb back above him in the official overall rankings on Monday week and looking at his results overall now this year I'd say is at least as worthy of any WC considerations now as Dan Smethurst. They are certainly the two most worthy of consideration from that age group. In fact there are some rather disappointing total ommisions from that age group in the above list.

Morgan is also one name on the list that really hasn't got going this year as I am sure he himself would have wished and actually a Wimbledon qualifying WC is perhaps rather questionable.
