No official Ladies French Open list yet but KOB is either just in or 1st Alt and Anne will be in with a PR if she does not make the Main draw

Why would Anne use her PR, she can only use it for one Slam so better off saving it up for a tournament away from clay? It's not certain by any means.

Srebotnik entered with a PR so Katie is one out and Anne two out, at least as far as we know, I don't think anyone has officialy pulled out?

I think it's an interesting call for Anne if she doesn't get into the main draw on ranking.  My guess would be she will get in if it just needs a couple to pull out.  Will she not though have to make that call quite a bit in advance ? -   i.e. like she can hardly surely have the option of coming along and bumping someone out just before the Open if noone has withdrawn.

Yes, she has better chances at the US Open so if it was a direct choice of having to use a PR for one or the other then the US Open makes more sense.

But does she back herself to essentially make more points until the cut-off date for the US Open this year than she did last year and hence, all things being otherwise equal, improve her ranking ( will probably have to improve it a bit partly because there are a few less direct entry places to the US Open than the other Grand Slams due to 4 more qualifiers ) ?  Or, maybe as importantly, to be seen to back herself to earn direct entry to the US Open.

Yes, that's on the face of it a pretty tough task with the points she has to defend, principally the total of 310 for 3 tournaments that come off in May.

I'm guessing and hoping she won't need to make a choice, but I reckon she will use her PR for the French Open if it comes to it.

Ward is in the MD for Carson in the States. It's played on Hard

Should be a pretty weak draw as RG Week 1 is on at the same time. So if anyone manages to qualify from this MD they will withdraw and the cut is already at #305

Could be a good place for Ward to pick up some points

Not too sure what's going on with Slabba here, he has in best two weeks in ages and then he pulls out of his next two tournaments. Surely you want to play more when you're in good form, not take a long break. Andy could tell him the dangers of doing that.

Hope so, still a bit strange for him to pull out this week though, he could have asked for a late tuesday start and that would be over 3 days recovery.

Ward out of Carson cry

Don't think he has an injury, probably just wants extra time for the grass season.
