Ah pity to see such a comprehensive defeat. However, as has been said a really good week for Laura.
From the one match that I saw most of, her final qulaifying round, where I thought her play for very inconsistent, she really does look to have picked up her game particularly in her win over a really in form Sophie Feguson.
Gallovits is a pretty good player, has been and probably still is in some of her recent form top 100 quality. Yes, she may have outclassed Laura to an extent but in some ways I would like to think Laura was maybe not quite at her best and could on another day maybe have got a few more games.
Of course, it's always difficult to tell how much the particular form of one or other player has contributed to any bare scoreline.
Did any of you guys manage to see quite a bit of the match and if so I wonder what were your general impressions ?
The match wasnt streamed, the camera just showed one side of the court as for some reason she was moved, then just showed the SB. I think it was fairly windy though.
Laura was 1-4 with Gallovits serving and managed a break. Not sure if Laura had a game point on her following serve but I think it went to deuce. So maybe the 2nd set wasn't as one sided as the scoreline suggests.
Just thought I would make a brief comment on what I saw. Wasn't able to log onto this site yesterday. Don't know why.
I listened to a brief report on the local tv station which had a interview with Gallovits after the match. She said when she saw the really windy conditions she felt she could use them to her advantage and so it turned out. Laura could hardly win a point on her own serve which suggests she was having problems with the wind. Laura has previously handled windy conditions very well but against a wily veteran at the top of her game on her favourite surface she clearly was outdone. Great week though and most importantly no apparent problems with her wrist. No taping needed and after several matches in one week that is surely a great sign.
As regards the current weeks tournament it is possible she has pulled out although not a certainty. She maybe the last direct acceptance into the main draw or she possibly is on her way home.
Finally as a footnote as one of the four qualifiers she could have drawn Gallovits in the first round so clearly had a bit of luck there.
Gallovits won the title, beating Yakimova in the final 6-1 6-4. She was many folks' favourite from the start and didn't drop a set and only 23 games in all in her 5 matches.
So, while Laura would have hoped for better in her semi, she lost to a pretty good player in form.

Definitely no shame in the loss. Were it on hard or grass the scoreline would have been slightly more unexpected but she can hold her head high for sure!
