Difficult to tell too much from one match against Falcon, who as Steven says has done little on her apparent comeback prior to her Q1 very good looking win.
Anyway, hopefully Laura getting more into the swing of things after her matches last week and also getting happier with the surface.
A more typical scoreline which we are accustomed from seeing from Laura. Blasting out of the traps and then maintaining that form in the second set. In someways a Cav like performance. The weather was very iffy there last night with the rain coming to suspend the second night match .So maybe with the extra focus knowing that unless she finished the match last night she would have to potentially play 2 today she was able to produce a more efficient performance. I actually think Falcon is of a reasonable standard so I think that is a much more encouraging performance.
FQR : (q2) Laura ROBSON WR 315 v (q8) Chin-Wei CHAN ( TPE) WR 514
Chan is a 25 yo who has been ranked as high as 152 in October 2006 and had a y/e ranking for 2008 of 199.
But her form over the last year or so reflects in her ranking and this year she actually does not have much activity showing in her WTA pages, just quite close first round losses in 50K and 25K in China in early January to WRs 571 and 341 respectively. So not sure if she has been out lately with some problem.
