RE: Week 16 - Challenger ($50K) - Tallahassee, FL, USA - Hard

Simmonds must be on an injury comback as he's been much higher ranked in the past. Most worried about Wardy

In the MD, the qualifiers will play against one of:

M Yani WR 149
G Jones WR 192
T Ito WR 237
S Gonzalez WR 216

So all seeds avoided. Just need to win their FQRs.

Josh has been drawn against Yani, and Jamie against Jones, so again, the Brits have managed to dodge the easier opponents.

Good to see Jamie and Josh through and that's a good win for Josh over one of Jamie's pals from Australia last year.

Pity about James and he hasn't really followed through so far on what I thought was a very encouraging start to the year.  Hopefully he can pick up again soon, particularly with a lot of points to defend coming up in the next few weeks, and most particularly 78 points from his Sarasota Challenger title last May.

The Challenger guys got really a very good set of first round draws last week, and those aren't too bad, just not from what we knew was the choice.

Swings and roundabouts  smile

Good for Josh after the torrid time he's has results-wise recently. And good to see Jamie back to winning ways happy.gif

Shame for James

Good draw for Baker, a lot of Jones' points are from weak Australian events and has lost to Rice and Milton in the past year.

And the seed in his section Ginepri is capable of losing to anyone on his day.

I saw both those matches against Rice and Milton, Jones plays like Goodall, just usually a bit better. If Jamie can deal with his serve and get it back in play often enough he should be fine.

Sounds a lot like Groth (Sam, not Jarmila)

Unfortunately Niland lost in the FQR as well, so James is only the 2nd Alt.

What are the courts like in Tallahassee, are they slow like Baton Rouge?
Count, could you tell us from Boggo experiences there?

If the courts are playing quick, then they can help Josh with his game. He probably can outpower Yani, but if the points are being grinded out on a slow court, Yani will probably win as Goody will lose patience and prob will make a lot of unforced errors.

Same really for Baker but the other way round.

Niland is in replacing Anderson andhalf the main draw is yet to play last 32. A glimmer of a chance for James if someone falls in the shower or summat...
