Heather should qualify for this having taken a look at the draw a young french lady looks like providing the toughest test.

Well, she's beaten Cercone before, at doubles, but this match isn't a pushover against a talented American junior. Personally, I'm hoping it's the young Scottish lady who gives her her toughest test, and I wouldn't be unhappy if she were found wanting.devilish.gif

As Nicola plays professional tennis on a somewhat part time basis I would much prefer the younger much more talented British junior gland slam champion to come out on top. I don't know Nicola's ability on the green clay so if they were to meet (unlikely) she may be able to cause a huge upset as certainly Heather is not at her best on this surface.

Nicola Heather matchup still on the cards. Great fightback from Nicola to win against a higher ranked opponent.

Not as convincing as I would have forecasted but as Embittered mentioned Cercone much better than her unranked status would suggest.

Someone reported on TF saying: "the best match today by FAR was the match between watson/cercone. it was extremely physical, almot everypoint was a long rally. alex had an answer for just about anything heather threw at her. this was played when it was at its hottest and you could tell it was really beginning to affect heather at the end, i'm pretty sure if cercone could have won the 2nd she would have won the match."

Keep on winning Hev! And good effort from Nicola.

And by the way, I saw that Heather's (personal) facebook said she was sick a couple of days ago I think, so that may be the reason why she was thrashed so badly last week.

Heather's next opponent doesn't seem to have won a mathc on tour, and she lost two games to the girl who was thrashed by bagel girl Brie Whitehead so this should be straightforward.

Sounds as if Laura might not make the draw here as an eye witness account noticed that she had her wrist taped up and iced.

Very odd to go all this distance with the wrist still not 100%.

Yes, very odd indeed.  I felt that they would ensure the wrist was absolutely fine before she competed again, which only made sense.

Pretty daft if you ask me if she's travelled when it's not definitely fully healed.  And when I heard it was getting put into a cast, about now is the very earliest I expected to see her playing again.

Hmm, unless in some way it's relapsed.
