RE: Week 14 Futures - China F3 ($15k) - Chongqing

Good stuff by Sean, and clearly the other seed in his quarter has fallen as well, so may not be finshed yet.

Li Zhe a 23 yo, so not some great young junior.

By the way when just looking at his ATP record, which isn't very frightening, I noticed that at WR 749 he is the 5th ranked Chinese player and that their No 1 is WR 372.  Didn't realise that their men were still that far behind.

Maybe re "abandoned" they really mean "suspended" due to light ot whatever.

Apparently that was the case.  The matches were completed and the no 2 seed came through, but the no 3 seed ( in Sean's quarter ) was beaten.

Sadly, Sean wasn't quite so fortunate agin Raditschnigg in the doubles: he & Leong lost by 6-7(5) 2-6 to him & Moser, the fourth seeds. cry

Sean's results in the recent British Tour events suggested he was in good form so I guess it was just a matter of time until he carried his success over to ITFs, or until he got a good draw he was able to take advantage of.

Someone on AM.com is reporting that Sean has won his QF, though I can't find confirmation yet on ATP, ITF, twitter or the Chinese sites.

If true, this would be only Sean's second Futures (singles) semi, the other one being in Guayaquil (ECU) in Aug 2008.

On Sean's facebook page: 'I won 5 and 0. Didn't quite realise he was gonna say comon after every single point he won lol. I was up a set, 5-0 and 40-0 and he got the biggest pump out when he won the point.... too good ha.'

Facebook again: "haha i can't wait to get out of here now. lost today 2 and 3 but match was nearly 2 hours. had so many chances though. had like 15 break points but he just played good on them."

Still some good points which he can hopefully add to next week.

... and of course following the pattern of opponents retiring a round too late, Bradaric went on to retire in the Final!

Still, that's the most points Sean has ever picked up in a week (his previous SF was a 10K and he has never won a main draw match in a Challenger), so he's got to be pleased with it overall!
