1st set to Vemic 6-3 - Vemic has got 81% 1st serves in and has won 20/21 points on serve (you wouldn't think this was clay, would you?!), James has got 53% 1st serves in and won 14/19 points on serve.

Just when it was beginning to look like James was never going to make any inroads into Vemic's serve, he's gone 4-1* up in the 2nd set, despite Vemic serving at 86% in this set to 39% for Ward!

Decent opening win there from Ward. Vemic spends most of his time playing Doubles now by the looks of it but certainly is better than a ranking of 812!
