Wouldn't it be better for Anne to go through the qualifying and pick up some cheap points? (And some extra grass-court practice along the way). Same goes for Mel too.
Whether it would be better or not she won't. Certainly it does make sense as Cav showed last year earning 50 points but the glamour of being in the first round main draw at Wimbledon is tough to turn down.
Good win for Anne still have hopes for her and Katie as direct entries to wimbledon. i think at this stage Mel should have to qulalify unless ranking wise she improves severe loss of confidence for a player who is great to watch. But she has reached an impasse hope she is not doing a Jane O'Donohoe (who I still regret giving up) by sliding down the rankings. Laura and Heather both good prospects But my view and shoot me down in flames for this but if Broady is within top 250 she should get the WC if she is not allowed then the LTA or AELTC are being petty. Cav sorry did not mean to upset anyone on here just that she has been subject to criticism but as has been said she has got loads of potential however bally and Anne are only reaping their potential over last 18 months both are about six /seven years older than Cav
I have to say, I think some of the comments on Naomi C are an overreaction. Considering how long it took Anne and Bally to breakthrough, I don't think we need to be concerning. I agree she needs a new coach because some of the things i've heard about from this guy (I remember someone noting that he was encouraging her to just hit the ball as hard as possble or something) aren't great. I just hope that she can have a great grass season and can gain confidence from that and start to play some great tennis. We will see.

Good event here for Anne to pick up points. She's steadily getting back on track. As for Cav she needs a good coach to draw out all that potential she has. Bally seems to have got it right with her coach. Still plenty of time for Cav but it is frustrating as a fan seeing her stall at the moment.
Zahlavova v Kucova has just gone into a third set, so Anne not likely to be on until 6.00ish.
Re Anne v Camerin, the last Brit to beat Camerin was Anne in Feb last year. Since then Camerin has beaten Naomi B, Elena and Laura. Hopefully, Anne can end her Brit-bashing run.
