Wimbledon Wild Cards 2010

The brits should just get them all, like in the olden days. Better for us, we get to watch them, Brits do get tons of support and backing at Wimby as well which should encourage organizers to choose them for the tournaments sake.

Give the top 8 or whatever a WC and see what they can do.

Giving them to foreigners is not going to help the tournament at all unless they are past legends.

Wont happen though lol.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this. Will be very interested to see who gets the WC's. I'm thinking about going to Wimbly qualies this year (couldn't last year as was at a London exo event watching the year's only action of Rafa on grass, amongst others), can anyone help me out and tell me what the procedure is for showing up, times, getting in, getting tickets, prices etc?!

Wimby qualies is great - I go most years. It's at Roehampton and is free to get in...just walk in and wander round the courts. If you want more info pm me

Sounds good. I'm not sure how I'd get down to Roehampton though... any good B&B's or hotels down there? Right right... I'll pm. :)

Who did Milts beat, was it Sidorenko?? I only managed to get to the final day last year so saw Cav surrender pretty tamely but saw Eaton a few times on his good year.

yeh it was Sidorenko, who spent two hours hitting forehand slices right into the middle of the court for Josh to hit away...mind you i think Josh had a mental flake and almost lost it, maybe there's some value in those rubbish forehand slices?

who am i to judge...the halfcourt forehand slice is my stock shot when playing no

will be interesting to see how this pans out, esp for the men, you have to say so far this year there are very few deserving candidates. Boggo would probably have to be sub 120 minimum to even be in with a shot of a WC as well.

In regards to whether Nappowan (Sp?) will get a main draw WC as girls singles champ, well they don't necessarily have to. They have to give her at least a qualies WC (so long as she is fit enough to play), but they don't always give the previous year's girls singles winner a main draw wildcard. In 2003 they only gave Dushevina a qualies WC (though the gave beaten finalist Sharapova the main draw one instead so maybe that's why).

i think that's basically the point, he's got to be so close to a DA that it would be a purely vindictive move to not grant him one, even given all that gone before.

bogga is the only man apart from jamie baker(due to the long injury breaks) who deserves a wild card the rest are not deserving of this at the moment but a few months still to go-----------will anyone come up of the pack to dazzle us?
