the difference in that final set was definately the oswald second serve, in the first and second it was practically point to inglot, in the third set, oswald upped his game.
very annoying. inglot not getting broken and still losing, gutted for him
Argh about 5 mins too late. Probably a little optimistic but I wonder whta the chances are of Inglot ending year GB no.3? If he can serve as well as he appeared to today on the grass at Nottingham and Eastbourne then there's the potential to gain loads of points there. Hopefully he'll get a WC into Roehampton too.
A good week for Inglot, Milton and Smethurst (though I expected the latter to put upa bit more resistance against Niland today) but an awful week for the men in Jersey overall.
Last year, we had the winner, an additional semi-finalist, an additional quarter-finalist and a qualifier, giving a total haul of 118 ranking points.
This year, we had two in R2 and a qualifier, giving a total haul of 17 points.

Unlucky, a match that could clearly have gone either way. Pity about not making these second serve points at the end.
But I was pretty impressed with his temparent and although yes he didn't drop serve, he faced 8 BPs and dealt with them well.
As I said really nice touch on volley, although sometimes I felt he could maybe have anticipated better at the net. Also, nice sneaks in, particularly earlier in the match, which maybe Oswald learned to negate.
Credit to BBD for his efforts, but alas, home challenger and no Brits left standing at the QF stage
Essentially we sent into battle just about the best British men's tennis has to offer, apart from Andy, at the moment and it was found most wanting.

Here was I wondering why the LTA have reduced the numbers of challenger events in Britain. As Jersey isn't really Britain. we only have the Nottingham one and perhaps one in Hertfordshire later in the year. Now I see why. Most of the prize money would be winging its way out of Britain for sure!
