Brilliant win for Anna and maybe a career best. 7-5 6-4.
It really appears to me that her game has progressed this week. First of all seeing off her victor from last week and then this win. This sets up a clash with Emmers who also had a great win today although I would suggest that Anna's was a little bit more impressive.
I can't see anything other than a win for Anna but you never know.
Mel won as well but unfortunately without showing any evidence that she is playing any better.

That's really great stuff from Anna, who'll move up from GB no. 10 to GB no. 8 just ahead of Laura after this, I think. We now have three in R2 in the 2nd quarter, everybody else out.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
I left EWS winning and very pleased she had gone on to win so well. I did think Buryachok had least form of the GB girls' opponents but was a bit doubtful that EWS was in good enough form to take advantage.
As for Anna, she just continues almost week in week out to play well and it's really good to see. After avenging last week's loss that's a particularly good win and a second win against a top 150 player after her win against Kucova in Sutton ( who I notice the folloiwng week beat the Makarova WR 59, I didn't continue a thread to see if I could get her up to a top 10 player ) Certainly overall, she still seems to be getting better.
I make it that win takes her provisionally to 127 points, the same as Laura, not really sure how the WTA splits folk on same points. I'd make her favourite against EWS so really good chance of going higher, although I do hope EWS is back towards her really best form and it's a good match.
Not sure how much to make of Mel's win against Jade given both's recent below par form. But it's good for her to get the win, even if expected. I don't see any result for the Marino v Hrdinova match to see who she plays next.
An all British QF would be really good to see here, and certainly exceed expectations.
Pity about Jade W and Amanda's results but it woiuld have been a huge surprise if either had one, and Jade's score looks verey resaonable.
Anyway, three into the last 16 I reckon makes it a very good return. We had one certain, and three others that I gave some chance. Naomi I would have given a bit more chance going in than Anna and EWS, who I thought were probably outsiders for their matches. But I always though Hogenkamp was a difficult and potentially close match and that she would probably have to play towards gher best to win it.
Good stuff overall

So Hrdinova it is for Mel. Doesn't seem in the best of form, indeed has hardly won a match since last year's US Open. Has a CH of 168 from April 2008
Last year's run of defeats were against top 150 players, but her WTA activity shows she has losses this year to WRS 240 and 370 and one reasonable win, against WR 163 Kalashnikova ( sounds as if she did well to get out of that one without injury )
To me, a distincty winnable match for Mel if she could find some real form. If she doesn't win it, on home ground I would at least expect to see it being a fairly competitive match.
Cavaday's and Broady's losses to Hogenkamp have just been put into perspective as the young Dutch girl defeated top seeded Groth 2 & 0! Obviously Richel may have played above her previous matches in defeating the Aussie, but still it indicates that she is quite a talent.
