David Rice (8) GBR WR 509 vs Jordan Cox (LL) USA WR 940
Another nice first-round draw for David, with his R1 opponent from last week, Gilad Ben Zvi (who he beat easily), or Canadian WC Erik Chvojka in the last 16.
He's in the same quarter as top seed Vasek Pospisil again, but Pospisil got beat by Inzerillo last week, so let's hope for more of the same!
Ah yeah, my mistake !
Initial post, or rather the subject line, edited to reflect the fact that the event is taking place in Week 11, not 10.

Hopefully Rice is over the injury from last week and can build on that run and pick up some more points here.
Cox might not be the easy draw he initially appears to be as he reached the Wimbledon juniors final last year, but doesn't appear to have translated that form into anything in the senior ranks yet.
CHs : Rice 505 ( 02/10 ) vs Chvojka 343 ( 07/08 ) ( though Rice will enter top 500 on Monday )
Chvojka played much of the first half of 2009, with a best win against WR 671 and seemingly getting steadilty worse, losing 10 of his last 11 matches. He would have been unranked by the beginning of April if he hadn't picked up points in his last 2 tournaments.
He then hadn't played at all since early 07/09 until he seems to have reappeared for Canada F2 last week as a WC beating WR 702 and losing to WR 508 each in 3 sets. Here he has beaten WR 688 and 509 ( Rice ) in straight sets.
Clearly something wrong last year and may be related to his eventual break in the second half of the year, but capable of much better and unfortunately for David it seems may just be beginning to find it again.
Anyway, certainly far far more capable at best than his current ranking.

Thanks for that, for once I hadn't checked, trust that to be the time when it was very relevant. At least that means it wasn't an alarming dip in from from David.

No sign of Dr No in Rimouski Challenger qualifying, even though he'd have got in easily. I wonder whyhe didn't give it a try given that he's been in the area.
