I'd like to think this says more about Alex's improvement this year rather than James having a shocker.

Wow, I didn't see that coming ... and I didn't think the DC 'curse' affected you if you won aa live rubber!

Well done Alex though.

Bad loss for James and he needs to get some ranking points soon or he will be dropping back outside the top 300 and will have to start again, but a good win for the other Ward anyway.

Eaton has a good chance of a few points now as he has the game that could trouble Bautista-Agut if he serves and volleys very well, and Thornley pushing him suggest he may not be in the form of last week.

Good for Goodall to get a win after his disaster last week and with Minar out in really opens up the bottom section of the draw, and Illy will be delighted about that... would expect him to beat Charroin and he gets another crack at Martin who he pushed all the way last week, and it makes it easier for Evo/Goodall to get to the semi's - would still have Kontinen as the favourite to come through to the final though.

I hope that retirement's not as a result of an injury which will force Dom to withdraw from the doubles! pray.gif

Shame to hear about Inglot :(.  Of crse meaning they had to pull out the dubs.
Hopefully its not a huge injury, so he can still play Jersey Quals.

I wonder if Inglot was carrying the injury the whole match, if not then 5-1 up can be a positive for Chris.

Good luck to Eaton in his next round, I think he has a good chance of beating the spaniard who has played a lot of matches recently. Hopefully some strong serving and volleying can get him through to the quarters.
