Week 10 - ATP 1000 - BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells

Is Andy going to show up ? If so any guesses as to which day ?

Tim

Edit - it didn't seem worth while opening a separate thread for this tournament, so I have "pinched" Tim's thread and altered the title. Hope you don't mind, Tim!

RE: Indian Wells - is it really starting this week ?

Mens main draw starts on the 11th I think. Not a clear answer I know.

Could do with looking at something a bit cheerful after the weekend.....

Yes, the main draw starts on Thursday 11th; but Andy will have a first round bye so should be playing either Saturday or Sunday.

The draw will be made tomorrow at 1pm, presumably that is local time so 9pm here if I have actually managed to get the time difference right for once. . .

The draw is out, and really it is about as good as Andy could hope for.

R1-Bye
R1- Ginepri or Seppi
R3- Lorenzi, Russell or Andreev (32)
R4- seeds Karlovic (23) and Ferrer (13)
Q - Likely Tsonga (9) or Soderling (6)
S - Fed or Roddick

Nadal and Djokovic are in the other half.

Edited to put right my boo-boo!

Yes, can't complain at that draw.

Assuming he is 100% focused should do OK.

I've just realised I misread the draw, I read straight down and the top and bottom half are on separate pages! I'll amend the earlier post when I've sorted myself out.

It means he is due to meet Fed or Roddick in the semis though, and Rafa and Djokovic are in the other half.

I have altered the title of this thread so we can have all discussion of Andy's and other players' singles progress in this tournament (apart from individual match threads of course) in one place.

Seppi it will be in R2, presumably on Sunday, since bottom half of draw being played on Saturday.

Muzza playing with Hutchins in doubles on Saturday.

Andy is 2nd on Stadium 1 on Sunday n/b 1 pm Pacific. The clocks go forward in the US tonight, so that will probably be about 8 pm here.

Oh, I'm glad you said that, Steven. I had forgotten about the US clocks being a week ahead of hours and was planning my day around nine pm.

Muzza *5-4 Seppi - 3 breaks to 2, they're clearly getting confused by sharing this tournament with WTA ...

Meanwhile, Kolya has apparently broken his wrist, leaving Viktor Troicki with the following arduous route to the 4th round:

R1: bye
R2: beat Cuevas 1-0 ret.
R3: beat Davydenko w/o

They don't call him Tricky Vicky for nothing!

Muzza / Seppi settled down the breaks thing and decided it was an ATP match, only one more.

Muzza  6 - 4   6 - 4

Andy serveing at 50% in and total points were 62 to 56 in his favour.

I assume he is just warming up  hmm.gif

Wot no separate thread for the match? I couldn't post because I was trying to record the livestream (I failed, because when I put Replay Video Capture on this new computer, I forgot I had to change the settings so it kept stopping every500MB). Not a good quality match! Andy looked very rusty, some good shots and some rubbish, but a W is a W . . .
