Fantastico from Bally. Great reward beating a player at no10 in the world after having her best ever start to the year. I think she can beat Molik and more importantly i truly believe that she will think she can beat Molik. Her coach is doing a cracking job.
Well done to Bally and to her coach Nino, who have both done fantastically well. If only we could inspire the men as Nino has done Elena. So pleased for her that her hard work and determination have let her talent overcome her health problems.
Another player not based at the NTC.
Wouldn't it be fanatastic to see Bally frequently in these types of matches live on TV plus hopefully, some of the other girls soon.
I haven't seen bally play for a bit- what has changed? She always struck me as having top 50 potential in that she is a really very powerful player. I think she used to be held up by controlling the power-UEs/innaccuracy. Is it that she has managed to control the power more now? Or is it just that her health is now better? Or both?
"... its insane how many people give away serve straight after winning a set"
A quote from Santoro during Boggo's match.
Yes, i wss nearly going to say that though pity, it wasn't the hugest shock.
I wonder what the stats are ?
Just out of interest both Szavay & Wickmayer won the first sets in their current matches and served first in the second set... and were broken at the first opportunity... Any sports psychologists about?
A detailed report on the match from OEM, the next best thing to being there. This and Nino's general twitters suggest that it was every bit as good as those of us watching the live scores were imagining it was.
A couple of twitters from Nino (I don't think these replies appear on the general feed unless you're following the person replied to):
nseverino @botb1 Words can not explain the feeling, so much sacrifice, so much hard work, makes this special moment even sweeter. Coach Nino
nseverino @botb1 PRIDE, you've hit the nail on the head. Not just me but Nigel Sears and all the team that were with me, we were all proud of her.Nino
