I think a new Captain would help the situation, but this tie really wont fit in with Alex's current plans, as it will mean flying back from the US after Newport and then heading back out there again straight after it (the challenger calaendar isn't out that far yet, if it directly clahses then even worse).
Certainly the LTA would have to make it worth his while to consider it, at the minimum picking up his additional travel expenditure (1st class please), and, sorry what's that Alex, oh right, yes he wants 1st class travel for his website administrator too

It is possible though that the LTA have simply forgotten Boggo exists, or at least do not allow his existence to be acknowledged, just looking at the LTA News report of Dan's defeat :
"The British No.3 sneaked a tight first set 8-6 in a tiebreak, before dropping serve once in the second set, and then suffering a severe loss of form in the third set as he lost nine games on the trot. But Evans dug deep, despite an increasingly hostile crowd, to take the fourth set with two breaks, and head into a fifth set."

Nope, the atmosphere in Glasgow was really good! That said I do hope it's not in Glasgow again because I don't think I can get up there again for the tie if it's all the way up in Glasgow.

The DC tie will be in Newport week, albeit at the end of that week.

hi count you should persuade boggo to play the press and LLoyd have got it in for home, Alex is streaky player and very talented he should be back in the team. i would have boggo baker fleming skupski and ditch evans for time being. if played on grass Eaton and Inglot should play but would we learn anything playing on grass?
Na in all honesty i think Alex should play Newport
We should have enough in our locker to beat Turkey, they aren't good by any means and before you say 'so are lithuania'. Lithuania are better than Turkey
- First thing he'd have to do though is get Boggo on board for these lower level Euro/African groups ties. Boggo and the LTA will have to kiss and make up. Keeping all your best players on board and available is part of being a good captain/manager in any international sport.
Play the next tie in Glasgow with Baker and Flemski, as well as Boggo. There will be plenty of vociferous, but knowledgable, support to whip up an atmosphere and 'noise up' the Turks - It's what every other country does. Baker especially draws a large enthusiastic following in his home town.
- On World Cup Final weekend fan interest in tennis could be a problem in England.

If Alex does get DA into Newport (which i think if he can maintain his ranking is a strong possibility) then it would be quite harsh to expect him to put that aside for the DC, even with a new captain at the helm. after all its not that often he gets DA's into ATP events, and it could put him in a tricky postion, i guess if he has a good grass season prior to that he may well be prepared to look on it more favourbaly.
surely Wardy has got to be a shoe in for this one with his record over Ilhan tho.

i've seen a lot saying Eastbourne, what about Ct 2 Wimby? decent size but not too huge, altough maybe straight after wimby they will want some time to work on the site.
Nottingham maybe? as a little payment for taking away its atp?
i would say Surbtion, good access from London, but no courts covers is asking for trouble. dont want the DC being move to no spectators allowed NTC!

Maybe if Alex gets asked (which he probably won't, but there you go), he should say he'll play but only if he's allowed to have a go in Newport, since that would no doubt be far better preparation than having to attend a pointless training camp?
