Well, Disappointing result, but it proves how well Boggo is playing, I reckon Beck will be top 50 by the end of the year. On this form I cant see a reason why Boggo can't make the final in Jersey, and hopefully go on to win it.

I read from where I was when I went out and really thought that was going to have a happy ending.
Great standard of play though from what I saw, better than anything we saw in DC or I've seen in other bits of streaming below ATP level this year ... and perhaps more importantly, although he was a m/b up in the final set t/b, it doesn't sound like he choked it, just that it was too close to call throughout - indeed, he was the one who showed mental strength in the 1st set t/b and in breaking back in the 3rd.

Your right Steven, he sems a lot mentally tougher these days. I really think this could be Boggo's top 100 year or optionally winning a game at SW19.....OR BOTH! Hope he stays well clear of DC for the time being, he clearly performs better without those pressures.

I really hope Boggo gets a nice draw at Wimbledon this year.
Off topic: Will any Brits go and try to qualify at the French Open ?
Boggo normally does, in fact its almost a tradition that he gets through qualie rd 1, then loses in qualie rd 2! Hope he goes for it again. What are the chances Count?

Hard luck, Boggo seems to have been a really good performance.
I know we are maybe talking Davis Cup into the ground, but I'd love just to hear one newspaper querying his absence there ( not that I guess Boggo's feeling too bothered )
They have just totally all bought into this stuff that's he's some sort of perenial failure when it matters.
I was similarly a bit disturbed with some suggestion that I read earlier here that any WCs this summer may be media driven, well we know they won't drive them, so is it too much to hope merit may play some part ?
Nowhere in sport do I know one guy who is so mistreated by so many folk in authority and the media.

You'd hope not, but what I meant was, particularly with where the others are ranked at the moment, if he doesn't get one, it's going to be pretty obvious that it's because the powers that be are afraid of getting ridiculed in the media.
I still think it might do Boggo a lot of good to come through Wimby qualifying and feel like he was there completely on merit, but there's always the chance of coming up against a complete ringer in the Q draw and missing out completely, so I wouldn't blame him for taking a WC if offered.

He's not known as the scapeGOAT for nothing, you know!

From what i have seen from Boggo this year, i have been very impressed. His whole game seems to have gone up a level.
His serve seems to be much more of a weapon and something he can hold very often. Groundstrokes have real penetration on them, most of the time, winners or forcing the errors. And a weak part of his game i remember, his volleys, now seem to be much more solid and are useful for him when his serve and his groundys are forcing weak returns which he can then putt away.
Overall VERY impressed. He should have been in both the Poland and Lithuania Tie instead of Dan Evans, but thats gone now.
Hopefully he can prove all his critics wrong and finish this year top 100 !
