Shame for Heather, but she has played so much tennis this week, especially after that 3 and a half hour marathon vs Vaidisova, so a win against a player like Zhang who is so talented herself and obviously beat Safina last year is a bit much. She is on the list for Clearwater next week but I don't think she'll make the cut, and then Irapuato, which is a great chance to pick up some big points looking at the field. Exciting times!

It looks like Nicole Vaidisová's 4-6 7-6(10) 7-6(4) loss to Heather Watson in the Hammond 25K earlier this month may turn out to have been the Czech former world no. 7's last professional match.

There are lots of reports going around this week that Nicole has retired

and will marry Count Duckula (i.e. Radek) in July this year.
