QR1: Alex Slabinsky WR 746 v Alexander Sadecky (SUI) WR 346 QR1: (q7) Josh Goodall WR 287 v Fabrice Martin (FRA) WR 636
The winners of these two matches will play each other in QR2, with (q4) Yannick Mertens (BEL) WR 241 the other seed in this section. Not a bad draw for Josh, I'd say.

Link to the qualifying table, http://www.ti.fft.fr/EvMenu.asp?CodeEvent=0911061381 seems to be kept up to date as they go along. Goodall 6th on, Slabbers 7th (last) on a different court.
Two matches decided in straight sets and I didn't see either of these results coming, to put it mildly!
QR1: Alex Slabinsky WR 746 beat Alexander Sadecky (SUI) WR 346 by 7-6(5) 7-6(0) QR1: (q7) Josh Goodall WR 287 lost to Fabrice Martin (FRA) WR 636 by 6-4 7-6(4)
QR2: Alex Slabinsky WR 746 v Fabrice Martin (FRA) WR 636

O_O Woops. Yes, I completely guessed that Josh might get all the way into the main draw, the way the qualies looked for him, and thought that Slabba might struggle. Ah, this is the wonderful thing about tennis... all your expectations get turned on their heads.

Looking back a bit, Goodall's record this year is:
Week 2: seeded 4, lost in the QFs to a qualifier (Lugassy) Week 3: seeded 4, lost in the SFs to the no. 1 seed Week 4: seeded 1, lost in the SFs to the no. 3 seed Week 5: seeded 1, lost in the QFs to a player ranked nearly 300 places below him Week 6: seeded 2, lost in R1 to a player ranked nearly 300 places below him in straights Week 9: seeded 7 in qualifying, lost to a player ranked over 300 places below him in straights
So he has reached his seeding place once, gone out two or more rounds too early in four of his other five tournaments and things seem to be getting worse at an alarming rate. I realise many of us thought (looking at his actual results) that he was over-ranked when he was ranked around 200, but he's not this bad, surely - I remember the time he qualified for successive slams and looked like being the next Brit to challenge for a place in the top 100.

Yes, I didn't think he was that bad... possibly overranked, but not that bad. Those seeding records are disturbing though!
Any chance I can hint that you check your pm's? I've included pretty pictures *hintbribehint*... okay, yes, it's probably me not you that would think the picture is pretty, but still...

LOL. Yes, thanks. Now I finally add that into the profile!!!! *mutters about ATP and ITF not keeping lower ranked players' profiles filled out and updated* Most of that kind of information I have to dig up myself and then obtain by a process of deduction... I only figured out what the racquet was by zooming into my own photos and then scouring the Wilson Pro racquet online shop (my deduction? Wilson [K] Six.One 95, thank you very much Monte Carlo, GOODNIGHT!).
You have a point though... I retract the adjective "pretty" and substitute "handsome". Better? Socially it is a tendency to apply "pretty" to the female and "handsome" to the male, but I usually ignore such social cliches.
Speaking of pretty... it's someone pretty's 18th birthday today, someone whose appearance and potential prominence in 5 years time I think once caused someone to groan at the prospect.

I think it's up to the players to update their profiles, so you may be blaming the wrong people.
You must mean someone who got hammered by Boggo recently. If tennis really is dominated by pretty boys in a few years' time, I might be reduced to watching WTA, but all the evidence so far this year is that they're overhyped.

I know, cause I actually contacted the profile people once telling them that I might be able to fill in the blanks for them and they replied saying that it's up to the player. But honestly, is every player gonna find the time or the internet connection to do that, or even be aware that they have a profile that is grossly neglected in terms of information?! Surely someone at ATP or ITF should go up to them and ask if they wouldn't mind having their profile updated and answering a few simple questions?!
I don't know who Boggo hammered recently so I can't answer that, but you seem to have twigged who I was referring to. I just find it hilarious whenever you say something like that... but I dunno, on a serious basis it baffles me why that would force you to stick only to the WTA. What about that would cause you to do that, I mean I have no idea except maybe to make an out and out guess and throw out the statement that hey, is it any different at the top of the game now, what with Rafa, and then you got the huge Fed following... Also, I maintain that you have nothing to fear as not everyone can be as pretty as our birthday boy. Other people are objectively not pretty at all (although throwing aside objectivity, my personal reaction doesn't preclude that fact... but I maintain that it's a true one, the non-prettiness assessment).
Hopefully Slabba can win this next match up!

When I saw him play in January he was carrying too much weight after a lay off. He is a good player but he probably envisaged himself playing at a much higher level by now. He needs to rekindle some enthusism, get training hard, and his results will improve. He has the talent to be at least be a top 200 player.
What is all this talk of "pretty boys" playing tennis? I thought guys were supposed to play ugly these days!
