Monday, last on the main court, probably about 4.30-5pm if Nole doesn't make a real meal out of the match before him. . .
The two have never met. Year to date - Andy won 6 lost 1, Igor won 1 lost 3, but that was before he won through qualifying here. Andy says on an interview on the BBC site that he had done very little since the AO so he may be rusty; the 28 yr-old Russian's current ranking is 90 and realistically Andy shouldn't have much trouble winning this one.
An hour & 41 minutes seems an awfully long time for a win by 2 & 3! The match was not quite 2 games old when I left work. I expected it all to be over by the time I landed back home!

Well, it did apparently take 32 minutes to get to 2 - 0 after the 14 deuces in game 2

Chris Bradnam claimed in the on-court interview that game 2 (25 minutes) was the second longest ever game (in mens tennis). The longest I can find reference to was one of 37 deuces between Anthony Fawcett (Rhodesia) and Keith Glass (Great Britain) in the first round of the Surrey Championships at Surbiton on 26 May 1975 which lasted 31 minutes.
Wow, I'm quite impressed that that Fawcett - Glass game ( 80 points ) ONLY took 31 minutes. I guess there were a few more rallies in the Muzza game ( 34 points )
Anyway, overall Murray's seemingly more straightforwatd match than Djokovic's actually had 12 more points in it for only 4 more minutes, though I guess Djokovic's 6- 4 6- 4 match had a couple more breaks, so much of a muchness. It's that 2nd game that dunnit

Ah, that would explain a lot! 32 minutes? Jeepers!
Nowhere near the best performance from Murray but it was never going to need to be and he just did enough to get the win.
Pretty comfortable start to the event in all honesty and sets him up nicely for the next round, which again he shouldn't reallly be tested in, so he's got plenty of time to find his best form.
I managed to see most of the match, despite having to prepare dinner during it - and then eat on a tray on my knee in front of the computer. I did manage to see the end though I am out on Monday evenings and was out of the door before they shook hands!
Andy looked very rusty and really not very fit at the start. He says he has done little training or practicing. Why, I wonder? Still, he got through with a flattering scoreline and that match should surely have tuned him up a bit for the rest of the tournament!
I read somewhere that Andy had various aches and pains after the Aus Open, I think it was back, knee and something else. Nothing apparently that serious but I guess he was just letting everything settle down before he got really back into things.
