Eurosport/Yahoo are running thsi in their 'tramlines' posts

A Bog v A Bog

Alex Bogdanovic and Alex Bogomolov: brothers in professional tennis, brothers in being born behind the Iron Curtain before relocating to the decadent West, and brothers in being nicknamed 'A Bog'.

Is tennis really big enough for the both of them? Britain's Bogdanovic and America's Bogolomov have been slugging it out in the middle tiers of the professional game for years.

So we thought we'd track their week-by-week progress to see who can lay claim to one of sport's most coveted titles: who is the greatest A Bog of them all?

And this week's winner? Why, it's A Bog (USA)! Bogolomov made it to the quarter-finals of a Challenger event in Texas, earning $1,460 in prize money and rising 18 places in the world rankings to number 263.

Part 2

It's arguably the most prestigious tennis title in the game and one that Roger Federer can never win. Who is the game's true A Bog: Alex Bogdanovic or Alex Bogomolov?

Last week, Britain's Bogdanovic was in Bergamo for the Challenger event and reached the last 16, which saw him pick up a cheque for 730 euros. However, American Bogomolov got through the qualifiers for San Jose, and while he lost in the first round proper, he picked up a whopping $5,160 for his troubles to go 2-0 up in our series.

Current A Bog

Alex Bogomolov (2-0)

We dream of the day they meet each other!

-----

hopefully the true A-Bog can get some wins here! (tramlines seems to have overlooked that our Bog is significantly higher ranked right now - hang on the same as JL does - hmm)

"Our Bog," shall we say, had levelled this contest at 2-2 two weeks later, so Eurosport had to result to arbitrary umpiring (aka cheating) to keep Boggo behind, since no doubt that suits their agenda better:

A-BOG v A-BOG - THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE

As Mozart and Salieri fought for musical supremacy, America's Alex Bogomolov and Britain's Alex Bogdanovic are locked in mortal battle to discover who will become the greatest professional tennis playing A-Bog of all time.

Neither player picked up a racquet in anger this week, which means there can be only one winner: and it's A-Bog (US)!

Yes, A-Bog (GB)'s shameful past record in Davis Cup tennis means that he wasn't trusted to take on the Lithuanians in Vilnius, clear grounds to award victory to the American. A-Bog (US) takes the lead!

A-Bog (US) 3-2 A-Bog (GB)

That's rubbish of course, Boggo clearly won DC week because even some of the anti-Bogs seem to be waking up to the idea that we'd probably have won the tie had he played.

Bog (USA) lost in IW QR1 to Schuettler, so our Bog must have won this week hands down smile.gif

From the same article (not Bog-related, but it shows how much their opinion is worth ...)

TWEETS OF THE WEEK

Winner: The Bryan Brothers unmask a Davis Cup team-mate as a fan of the internet's newest, and possibly weirdest, website: "Caught red handed! @samquerrey participating in some creepiness on chatroulette.com." Anyone who has yet to hear about chatroulette.com should take a quick look, those who have already heard about it will shudder in terror.

Honourable mention: Who knew that Venus Williams's practice partner Aleksander Bajin was a secret sausage rustler? "Surely @bigsacsha is the culprit in the mystery of the stolen sausages. And he leaves dirty underwear in the living room."

Wooden Spoon: 'Flemski' - aka GB doubles duo Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski - were a bit premature with their Davis Cup chant to cheer on Dan Ward in the singles: "Wardinho wohhhho! Wardinho wohhho! He comes from London town, he sends the bullets down! Wardinho wohhho..."

Fail! bleh (Eurosport, not Flemski, I hasten to add!)
