Wow indeed! biggrinthumbsup.gif  Tomorrow's OoP on the Tenispain site supports the results without giving the actual scores that produced them, i.e.

SF:  (3) Gabriel Trujillo (ESP) WR 337 vs (Q) Alex Ward WR 654

In the top half of the draw:

QF:  (8) Dan Smethurst WR 431 defeated (1) José Checa (ESP) WR 292 by 3 & 4 biggrin

SF:  (8) Dan Smethurst WR 431 vs (5) James Lemke (AUS) WR 397

Dan really does seem to have got his act back together this week! biggrin

Wardinator won his quarter 6-3 7-6 (as reported by alex) not the 7-6 7-6 score which was Comporto's 2nd round scoreline.

He must be brimming with confidence right now, great comeback and then backs it up a few hours later. Tough match against the third seed who has breezed through the draw so far, winning each match in straights without being tested. Hopefully Alex can take advantage of being saved by the rain yesterday and reach another final.

When was the last time we had an all Brit final not on home soil??

Except they won't be all-Brit semi-finals in Spain - but it could be an all-Brit final... wink

These are the last all-Brit finals on foreign soil...

May-07 Greece F2 Lee Childs bt Miles Kasiri 2-0 ret.
May-06 Greece F3 Jamie Baker bt Joshua Goodall 6-3 6-3
Nov-04 Indonesia-Leg 2 Satellite lan Mackin bt David Sherwood 7-6(6) 6-1
Jun-04 India #1-Leg 1 Satellite Joshua Goodall bt Richard Irwin 6-3 7-6(3)

Well remembered FR.  In the Greece 2007 semis, Childs bt Ward and Kasiri bt Flanagan.

That was so good by the Wardinator to come back from 2-6 3-4 (break down) over night, to go on and win it! jawdrop.gif ... and then win his QF too.

And Smethurst beating the top seed in straight sets too.  Yay!

Cartagena - the place of dreams.

...even the dream team won 2 games against the second seeds.

Hello all, Just done a bit of a report from the Group 1 U18's County cup. In the junior section, it may be of interest!

Great stuff from Dan, evidently just needed one win to get going  smile.gif

Would have been even better for GB if Alex had joined him in the final, but it's still really good to see him having yet another such good week.  Showing real consistency.
