RE: Week 7 - Futures F6 ($10K) - Cartagena, Spain

From looking at the order of play for tomorrow it looks like Neil lost, Dan beat Josh and Alex's match is still to be decided

Do team Goody get ranking points for that 'win'?

No-Goode played at my club, I lost to him at doubles in the county closed semi-final 6-4 6-4, was a close game! Good to see him, win(?) his first match!

So far, according to the drawsheet, noone has actually won a doubles match here  confuse.gif

The quarter finalists are made up of the no 1 and no 2 seeds getting byes and the other 6 getting walkovers in the last 16.

We already have one semi finalist since apparently one of the walkovers now has a walkover over one of the other walkovers  !!

Good stuff for Wardy yet again...and the draw has opened up for him as 2nd seed gone.

Much needed win for Dan - hope it gives him some confidence

Hopefully that win can kick-start Dan's season as he hasn't started this year in anything like the form we were expecting.

Alex just keeps winning matches and you feel that a really big result cannot be too far away if he keeps this up, and maybe a futures title will be coming to him soon.

Nice improvement through the match today for Dan, but not a good day for the Wardinator, though he might be able to rescue it tomorrow:

L16: (8) Dan Smethurst WR 430 beat Oscar Sabate-Bretos (ESP) WR 547 by 3-6 7-5 6-1 smile.gif

L16: (Q) Alex Ward WR 662 trails (Q) Marc Giner (ESP) WR 783 by 2-6 3-4 susp.

QF: (8) Dan Smethurst WR 430 v (1) Jose Checa-Calvo (ESP) WR 277

Unfortunately the Wardinator is a break down in the 2nd, but I'm sure he'll come out firing tomorrow.

Alex is probably just nostalgic for the 'good ol'days' when winning in three sets, preferably having been a set and a break down, was his bread and butter.

I wouldn't write him off.
