By all accounts Anne's opponent didn't have a great match I think she might have been ill. Certainly Anne's post match tweet wasn't suggesting she played brilliant tennis just happy to get off the court in double quick time. Hopefully we will see all brit SF.
Where was the suggestion Danilidou was ill ? She played and won on the MTB a doubles match, which I would think must have been pretty soon after her singles loss to Anne last night, so certainly couldn't have been too serious. She continues in doubles on today's schedule.
Bally's career has been punctuated by streaks of wins in 1, 2 or 3 tournaments followed by a lengthy period of modest results. It is very pleasing therefore to see her achieve consistency of performance over a prolonged period. Clearly Nino's input is working a treat, and it makes me wonder what might have happened had she left the Alan Jones/Jo Durie regime earlier (even allowing for the greater problems with health / injury in those days)
