Let's face it given that the matches probably started about 4.45 our time they probably finished a long time ago. It's just that the guy updating the scores has had a long lunch.
I just emailed my above frustrations to the tournament executive director and got a very quick reply. If I known that he'd respond so quickly I would have asked for some results as well
Thank you it's a volunteer job. Next year we may hire out. Thank you for the input.
That's a bit of blow for Heather as this was a huge opportunity for cheap points. The article above just shows the problems for up and coming players. I would have thought that Heather would have had a full time travelling coach with her but she doesn't and she is a junior grand slam champion. This is a critical period in her development because she really needs to be top 250 by the end of the year. Her approach at the moment is dare I say it slightly amateurish. I would have thought that paying for a full time coach would be very beneficial at this stage because the payback would surely outweigh any costs at this stage. Putting on my accountants hat this is basic cost benefit analysis. I'm just worried that deep down does she have doubts that she can sustain a professional career and by that I mean be a top 100 player for most of her career. Great comeback win for Anne but it would have been a shock if she had lost. Whereas Katie's result is a huge disappointment which makes the first round win at the Aussie open the absolute saviour for her start to the season.
Seems the people responsible for the live ticker are currently more interested in saying "hello" to Internet visitors in (if I've counted correctly) 16 different languages, including English, than announcing the results of the matches which are being played today! What's the bloody point?
Yes, Phil, Heather should be inside the top 500 when her Sutton points get added on Monday, but this was indeed on paper a very good chance to add 18 further points which would have probably taken her more than 50 further places up the ranking table.
