is jamie still a shoe in for dc, i see ward as in, and the final spot out of evo and baker. baker you would pick on character, but on pure results, evo has beaten the better players, and has had more encouraging performances in his loses, even thou the last two have been iffy. saying that, if lloyd is bakers biggest fan like some suggest, then the team is already a done deal

I'd have Baker over Evo

I have to say that on the form I indicated earlier in the thread I am disappointed but not surprised by Jamie's defeat here, if a little surprised by the margin of defeat.

This year so far I would say Jamie has generally not looked better than a WR 300 player, and I did expect his level to be better than that and for him to be making real strides.

At the start of the season I had Jamie pencilled in myself for a Davis Cup spot but, while he does have a character I admire, his results are not making things easy but then neither are Dan's.  Dan's best level may be better than Jamie's this year ( and clearly over the previous year ) but I feel he is always liable to throw in a bad one, such as his 1sr round defeat this week to Eysseric who immediately lost in the next round, indicating it was maybe not quite a new dawn on his part.

The shoe-in for Davis Cup in my opinion is James Ward.  Then, assuming Boggo is out of the picture, you have one of Baker or Evans for the other singles spot.  I am sure Lloyd wishes either had been putting up a really stronger case.

Flembo up now ... s/be an interesting match-up. Too bad for Skuppers, and Millot is thus far annihilating his current opponent (6-1 first set), so perhaps JB didn't play too badly after all in that 2nd set?
