I've fallen down the table again, so I need Olek to adhere to my predictions and beat Almagro, then lose to Verdasco in the fourth round. But he HAS to win round three for my Pick'em!

With the points he gains from this, what will Olek's new ranking be on Monday, a question for those statheads of you out there?

Around 43 or 44 I would guess, moving to inside top 40 if he beats Almagro.

Nice. Very nice if he beats Almagro.

Spotted a familiar name in Estonia Futures this week. Micke Kontinen, younger brother of Henri Kontinen, was given a wild card into the tourney. Meanwhile this week big bro Henri made a failed attempt to get through qualifying into Bastad's main draw. He seems to be living it up in Sweden though - when he arrived he complained that it was boring there but apparently he soon discovered an endless stream of nightclubs and parties. Lol, don't look at me - I told him to head on down to the beach and try to go one better than his longtime junior dubs partner did there last year in the international volleyball tournament that runs in the same week as the tennis.

Henri's got a DOB of 19th June 1990, whilst his brother Micke has a DOB of 18th December 1992. They've got a sister, Sanna (dunno if older or younger) but she doesn't seem to be a tennis player. Brother-sister tennis players in a family seem to be a lot rarer than same gender tennis players in a family.

Berankis (1990) and Dimitrov (1991) should be in the top 50 by this time next year.

They are playing in the semis of the Helsinki Challenger at the moment.

...Berankis defeated Dimitrov and will enter the top 100 if he can beat Michal Przysiezny in the final tomorrow. The Lithuanian looks to be mentally impenetrable.

What happened to Neil Pauffley?

He hasn't played since June, and had had a bit of a losing streak.

The two bits in bold are probably inextricably linked.

Doesn't really answer the why though.  Of all the 1989 / 90 prospects I have been watching progress through the year he is the one that for whatever reason has unfortunately just really gone very backwards rankings wise.
