Garbine cruised into the final, underlining her potential, and suggesting that Amanda probably played reasonably well in her defeat, but that the Spaniard is a class above her at the moment.
I don't know how you can say that Mandy probably played reasonably well in defeat when only winning 3 games. Given that Mandy was the number 3 seed and it was the Spaniard's girl easiest match on the way to the final suggests to me that it was anything other than a reasonable performance.
So I was perhaps overly kind on Mandy. Maybe she played a stinker, maybe they both were terrible, without being there I guess I was in no position to assume anything...anyway, calm down, I apologise for my naive optimism.
I think it has become clear to us that Gabrine is a real up and coming talent to the extent that her win against Mandy was in retrospect I suggest no great surprise. Indeed Mandy winning would probably have been the surprise.
I must admit though I was a bit surprised at the "Amanda probably played reasonably well" comment but said nothing at the time. Phlwrig just quite mildly did query it with some evidence.

To clarify I wasn't offended by his comment, he was more than likely correct as the scoreline was very one sided and as he pointed out the easiest win for the Spaniard, I guess I should have placed a at the end of the sentence to ensure my tone wasn't misunderstood (similarly read this post as unoffended and non-hostile). When I made the 'Amanda probably played reasonably well' comment, I had forgotten the scoreline and had thought it was more along the lines of 4 & 3... I now politely wish for a line to be drawn under this
