Tricky first round match though against Eysseric. Eysseric's the former junior world no.1. Remember him taking Muzza to 5 sets in the French Open a couple of seasons ago.
Quite interesting fact : Evans just 4 days older than Eysseric.
Eysserics's form over the last year ( and he seems to have played a full schedule ) is not that good as reflected in his ranking, the best results that he did have were on clay. and even his career high back in September 2008 was only 279.
Bloomfield beat him on indoor hard over 3 sets in November in the USA, He had earlier in the year lost to Chris Eaton in straight sets ( February, GB, indoor hard ) and beaten Colin Fleming in straight sets ( September, France, outdoor hard )
At 19 he is still a young player and hopefully for him will begin rising again.
However, not only should Dan be taking care of this match, but as was said earlier he should really be looking to win this tournament.

Could have been a better draw for Dan given that Eysseric does have talent but the fact he is still ranked as low as he is suggests he hasn't produced it consistantly enough at a senior level and is not going to be the player that he looked like being.
It's a match that Dan would be expecting to win and he really should be looking at winning the title here, as at his level he should be winning 10K's reasonably easily.
Hopefully Slabba can join him in the main draw as well.
Mm, not good at all. Maybe Eysseric did indeed play much better and was the threat some thought, maybe Dan just plain played badly, maybe a bit of both. Will be of some interest to see how Eysseric progresses here.
Anyway Jamie B loses in his Challenger qualifying to pass a possible Davis Cup baton onto Dan who promply drops it.
Ward and AN OTHER for Davis Cup. Who would like to step up to the plate ?
