It will be interesting to see how much closer Anna gets to Hlavackova than Heather and interesting to see that the Americans have handed Heather a wild card for next week.

Given that she was at Bolletieri's (single handedly-responsible, as far as I can see, for much of the shrieking and boring play in women's tennis these days), that's a fair assumption to have made ... it's encouraging to hear that it's not true. smile

Just see Heathers been awarded a maindraw wildcard for Midland next week, should be interesting to see out she matches up at a higher lever. Will that be the biggest tounament shes played in?

Sorry for misleading people about Naomi C, I wasn't sure about that one, and clearly must have misread/ misunderstood the posts on TF in regards to that match.

From the sounds of it Heather is a much better player than I previously thought, as I too had heard stories of her being a bit of a pusher, but from the sounds of it she has a lovely and varied game. Great run for Anna, and, in regards to her first round match, a nice piece of revenge over Kucova for Bratislava last year.

Yeah, I honestly was just interested to see if she really was a pusher or not and in actual fact they were both hitting the ball so much harder than the court next to them. I mean don't get me wrong she doesn't have a huge amount of power, but she's willing to be aggressive and if she really works on developing her variety and (as Andy obviously is a good tactician with a lot of variety) possibly look closely at everything about Andy's game apart from the mental side, I think she could be pretty good.

I think we all have to remember that even though she is 17 and most of the good 17 year olds are already top 300 or so, Heather pretty much had her mind set on university until the US Open and this will be her first proper year on tour. It will definitely be interesting to see how good she is.

Cavaday/Smith knocked out the top seeds in the SF but then lost the final to an unseeded pair.
