The 2 J's (Murray/Marray) will be looking to continue winning ways here.

They are the top seeds and they have drawn a pair of Venezuelan wild cards, Ricardo Corrente and Luis David Martinez, in the first round.

Safely through R1 6-2 6-2

Next up either Alves//Mello (Brazil) (WR 264/377) or Felder/Brzezicki (URU/ARG) WR 294/179

Mello is a pretty good doubles player - not playing with Sa at the moment, wonder why as they seem to be a successful pairing.

Is that not the other Melo - the one with one l - that usually plays with Sa? Not sure as I really don't follow doubles much at all.

Yes, this is Ricardo Mello, who is the one WR 264 in the above  post ( currently 261 ).  The clue really is in the rankings, Marcelo Melo, Andre Sa's often partner, is ranked 34.

This year, including the Australian Open, Marcelo Melo has been playing with Bruno Soares, Brazil's top ranked doubles player ( Melo is 2nd ranked ).

So on the face of it, a rather disappointing loss for the 2 Js.

Ricardo Mello is a wily old veteran who is not bad on the dubs court himself. Thiago Alves is no mug at challenger level either.

Looks like a case of two better singles players overcoming the higher ranked doubles partnership to me
