Week 2 - Futures F1 ($15K) - Glasgow, GBR - indoor hard

I know this is the breakthrough year for Chris - fingers crossed !!

His first ever final- must be great for him- With his big game its all about what comes out on the day, which makes him an exciting player to me.

Brilliant from Baker as well- with all the work he puts in he always deserves his success.

Eaton and Baker and Flemski for Davis Cup!

Even more great news for Chris!! Definitely his best week except for his Wimbledon heroics.

Him and Inglot won.

4-6 6-3 10-2!!!

Want Chris to take the title tommorow- would be his first.

Sounds like a really good day in Glasgow smile.gif - in fact, Chris has defended the doubles title here - last year he won it with a certain Jamie Baker, whom he meets in the singles Final tomorrow smile.gif

The winner tomorrow will be the biggest ranking points scorer among the GB men so far this year:

27 Glasgow winner
20 Wardy, Evo
15 Glasgow runner-up
8 Boggo
3 Goodall
2 Phillips
1 Cox, Marsalek, Morgan

Fantastic set of results today biggrin.gif

Much as I'd love Chris Eaton to win a tournament I still want JamieB to win this one but then he is one of my very favourites and I want him back to a career high asap!

Great stuff.   I have always really like Jamie and was so pleased to see how he got so much back into the groove in the latter part of last year.  Maybe his scores here haven't been entirely convincing but he's made another final.  Also, really good to see Chris make such a strong start to the year   clap.gif

I'd like Jamie to win, but whatever it has been a really good tournament for the Brits, what with Morgan and Marsalek's earlier results too  smile

With a guaranteed winner and runner up here ( 27 + 15 points ), Morgan Phillip's semi final in the USA future ( at least 6 points ), the 3 Aus Open qualifying guys all getting 8 points for reaching Q2 ( even if wish that was more ! ), as well as 3 points for Goodall and 1 point for Cox,  GB ranks 2 to 11 are already going to be adding at least 76 points in total for the 2 weeks of the Aus Open.

Still can add points from futures next week or challenger the week after.

That compares with a total of 26 points earned ( and now to be dropped ) for these 2 weeks from these 10 players in 2009.

So should be seeing quite a few good positive ranking moves come the post Aussie Open rankings  smile

Jeepers!  The ATP site says that Chris won by 4 & 4! crywinner.gif   No disrespect to Chris, but I was kinda hoping Jamie would pull it off.  Maybe he has finally turned a corner - for the better! wink

Wow !

Well done Chris, I bet he really wishes there many more tournaments wth courts as fast as they evidently are in Glasgow.

It's still a great effort though and hopefully he can go on from this    clap.gif

Chris- your the man!! What a result! Baker is a very good player so what an excellent win- this is the best form ive ever seen- he's been so consistent this week.

Will look forward for more to come from him this year. Great start, keep it up.

1st ever final at a futures event, 1st ever singles tournament win!
Tops off a perfect week for him- picking up both the singles and the doubles here.

I think he should definitely be a good shout for DC if he can keep some of this form up in the next couple of weeks. I mean a 1-1 W/L record isnt bad, he should deserve another chance for certain.

On fast courts maybe, but definitely not on clay, which is the surface the Lithuanians have apparently chosen for the tie. no

Great to see Chris win here.

But, re Davis Cup, in my opinion, absolutely no way on clay, not on general hard courts and debatable on fast hard courts. I'd like to see a lot more than this.

Haven't heard yet from our esteemed Davis Cup captain as to whether he is as damning as last year on those who failed to qualify for the Aus Open when they are the ones who are good enough to get there in the first place and should be the basis for our singles players.

Oh yeh- definitely only if it was to be played on indoor hard would i consider him. Clay and slow hardcourts are no place for his game for certain.

But if it were to be the case that a fast indoor court was picked, i would like to think he would be in a good position for a place over others.

In spite of today, I'd also still put Baker in line before Eaton.

To me, it's two from Boggo, Ward,  Evans and Baker.

( OK, I know in the real world let's forget Boggo, but just sayin....)
