Well done, Chris. smile  The dream lives on - for now... wink

With Galvani (2) gone, JB's now the highest ranked seed left in the draw.  And if Chris can stuff the Belgian third seed, surely the Belgian sixth seed (Goffin) will be a pushover... please.gif

Glasgow 15K Future

QF: (5) Jamie Baker WR 313 beat Timo Nieminen (FIN) WR 385 by w/o
QF: (4/Q) Josh Goodall WR 307 lost to (Q) Gary Lugassy (FRA) WR 623 by 4 & 4
QF: Chris Eaton WR 488 beat (Q) Alexandre Renard (FRA) WR 647 by 5 & 1
QF: (6) David Goffin (BEL) WR 326 beat (2) Stefano Galvani (ITA) WR 254 by 6-3 2-6 7-5

SF: (5) Jamie Baker WR 313 v (Q) Gary Lugassy (FRA) WR 623
SF: Chris Eaton WR 488 v (6) David Goffin (BEL) WR 326

None of the top four seeds have made the SFs, and two Brits there is one more than we were seeded to get, so I guess that's not too bad! smile

Sadly I won't be here for the final few days so this is my last post from Scotstoun. I'll leave you with my predictions for the SF's.

BAKER V LUGASSY - Baker has only played one full match in the last three days so it's tough to say what form he is in. Did well to come through that tough first round match though and is the highest seed left in the tournament. Lugassy had a good win against Goodall today though and is a strong-hitter of the ball. I go for Baker in three sets!

EATON V GOFFIN - Eaton's serve and volley game has served him well this week on the fast courts of Scotstoun and he hasn't dropped a set yet. 19-year-old Goffin may not be the tallest of players but he has caught my eye this week with his pace around the court and clean hitting. I think he could cause Eaton problems and as much as I would love an all-British final, I think the Belgian will win in three sets. Tough one to call though!

Great and very convincing win from Eaton- this could be the break through week he needs in his career.

Showing some solid singles and doubles form at the start of 2010- Great News!

Neither Goody's nor Galvani's day today, but very much Chris Eaton's:

SF:  (1) Chris Eaton & Dominic Inglot WR 532 beat Uladzimir Ignatik & Milos Raonic (BLR/CAN) WR 970 by 7-6(3) 7-6(4) smile

SF:  Josh Goodall & David Rice WR 1073 lost to (2) Olivier Charroin & Alexandre Renard (FRA/FRA) WR 563 by 5 & 3 cry

So, whoever did the seedings got it right:  the top seeds & the second seeds contest (tomorrow's?) final! wink

If the ITF is to be believed, Chris Eaton's only been & gone & done it:

SF:  Chris Eaton WR 488 beat (6) David Goffin (BEL) WR 326 by 6-3 6-7(2) 6-4 biggrin

Oops! redface.gif  Clicked on "submit" before I could add that there appears to be no news of JB's fate as yet.  He was scheduled to play after Chris, but this morning/early afternoon! confuse

Eaton score is indeed correct. Well done Chris! Hearing that Baker V Lugassy is still on court so it must be a long one!!

Great win for Eaton and am I right in thinking that this is his first futures final, so obviously whatever work he did over the off-season is paying off.

Hopefully Baker can get past Lugassy as well and an all-British final would be a perfect start to the futures season.

How much points does Eaton get? 14 or 15?
