RE: Week 2 - Futures F1 ($15K) - Glasgow, GBR - indoor hard

10 Brits, 8 GEMs, 3 Germans, 2 Belgians and entrants from 9 other countries make up the main draw:

L32: David Rice WR 525 v (1) Uladzimir Ignatik (BLR) WR 191
L32: (WC) Dominic Inglot WR 737 v Timo Nieminen (FIN) WR 385
L32: Richard Bloomfield WR 467 v Charles-Antoine Brezac (FRA) WR 361
L32: (5) Jamie Baker WR 313 v Peter Gojowczyk (GER) WR 387

L32: (4/Q) Josh Goodall WR 307 v (Q) Jaan-Frederik Brunken (GER) WR 561
L32: James McGee (IRL) WR 510 v (Q) Clement Reix (FRA) WR 749
L32: (Q) Gary Lugassy (FRA) WR 623 v (Q) Vincent Stouff (FRA) WR 1797
L32: (WC) George Morgan UNR v (7) Matwe Middelkoop (NED) WR 338

L32: (8) Gero Kretschmer (GER) WR 343 v Thomas Oger (MON) WR 412
L32: (Q) Matthew Illingworth WR 734 v (Q) Alexandre Renard (FRA) WR 647
L32: Chris Eaton WR 488 v (Q) Thomas Cazes-Carrere (FRA) WR 589
L32: (3) Yannick Mertens (BEL) WR 265 v Milos Raonic (CAN) WR 371

L32: (6) David Goffin (BEL) WR 326 v Andis Juska (LAT) WR 366
L32: (WC) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1493 v Romain Jouan (FRA) WR 455
L32: (WC) James Marsalek UNR v Sergei Krotiouk (RUS) WR 499
L32: (2) Stefano Galvani (ITA) WR 254 v Mathieu Rodrigues (FRA) WR 388

We only have two seeds, Josh and Jamie, and of the rest, only Chris is playing a lower-ranked opponent in R1, so there are going to have to be some big upsets in GB's favour for many Brits to get ranking points from this event.

Hi guys! Here again for the next few days doing a bit of freelance work so will keep you updated on scores etc.

RESULTS

Baker beat Gojowczyk 6-3 4-6 6-3

A match that Baker will be delighted to come through. Baker broke in the sixth game to go 4-2 up in the first set and held serve twice to win it 6-3. Baker was looking comfortable in the second set a break up at 4-3 but his groundstrokes then disintegrated and he was broken to love. Gojowczyk held serve and broke Baker's serve again to win the set 6-4. Baker upped his game in the third though and got an early break for 2-1. He served for the match at 5-2 and had two match points but was broken again. However, Baker got the job done in the next game and broke Gojowczyk's serve on his third match point to book a place in the second round.

Nieminen beat Inglot 7-6 (9-7) 6-1

LATEST

Bloomfield is at one set all with Brezac but is a break down at 1-3 in the decider.

No real surprises yet - what a pity Ignatik turned the screws on Dr No in the 3rd set though, if David could have got rid of him, that quarter would be looking a lot more friendly!

Solid from Eaton and Goodall- Shame about Inglot , looks like the match was all about the 1st set tiebreak.
