A much better effort from Evo than his previous ATP efforts and qualifying for this event was a good start to the year but a shame that this match slipped away from him, especially after winning the first set so easily.
Lammer is a decent player but is about as good as a draw as you could possibly get in an ATP so a shame that he couldn't take advantage of it and perhaps shows that he isn't quite at ATP level yet but he is beginning to make the step up.
Looks like he just didn't take his chances while Lammer did which I suppose comes from experience and he can take the confidence of qualifying into Aussie Open qualies.
Setting myself slightly for a battering but I must stress my disappointment in the opportunity to get an ATP win going awry here. I'm not saying "bloody Evo, what a load of rubbish" cos qualifying deserves the kudos in itself but this was probably the best opportunity he could have had and given that opening set seemed like cruise control (I wasn't following the live score mind so it could have been closer than I'm thinking).
I don't know. I'm happy for him to have made the step up but at the same time, slightly missed opportunity.
However, I give him credit for getting out there, taking the chance to get into qualies and doing the good deed in actually qualifying so I cannot fault him that in the slightest. I admit I'm probably being slightly harsh on the poor lad but to be fair, I think he might say the same thing to be honest.
Looking more promising for Aus Open though. Good draw, might do some damage!
