Week 2 - Futures F1 ($10K) - Plantation, FL, USA - clay

The first Future of 2010 has a massive 128 player qualifying draw running for four days from Friday to Monday. The main draw starts on Tuesday and four of our biggest risers in the rankings last year (Dan Smethurst, Morgan Phillips, Dan Cox and Josh Milton) should all be in it.

Half a dozen more Brits will need to win five matches just to get a ranking point:

QR1: (q12) Neil Pauffley WR 710 v Hunter Harrington (USA) UNR
QR1: Luke Campbell UNR v (WC) Gregory Levy (USA) UNR
QR1: Paul Bishop WR 1744 v (WC) Ridley H Seguso (USA) UNR

QR1: (q13) Alexander Ward WR 716 v Hector Infante (ESA) UNR

The top seed in Neil's section is (q2) Ti Chen (TPE) WR 426 and the top seed in the Wardinator's section is (q7) Vladimir Obradovic (SRB) WR 615, while the winners or Paul and David's matches will face each other in QR2.

Josh Milton is here too - he got the bad draw!

L32: Josh Milton WR 555 v (4) Artem Sitak (RUS) WR 348

... plus who is David Smethurst? wink

Only Morgan is playing his main draw match today, though the others are playing doubles.

Oops, maybe if I didn't post at 3 in the morning I'd check draws properly and vaguely remember folks names.  Thanks, Simon.

Wardinator plays Boggo's former doubles partner.

Sitak has bad memories of Brits. I think he was on the end of Jamie Baker's US Futures Winning streak before his illness.

Three all-Brit pairs in the doubles & so far so good - they've avoided the seeded partnerships wink :

Bogdan-Victor Leonte & Juho Paukku (ROU/FIN) WR 1111 vs Morgan Phillips & Dan Smethurst WR 1225

Dan Cox & Josh Milton WR 2106 vs Benjamin Rogers & Austin Smith (USA/USA) UNR [incredibly normal names for a pair of Yanks! disbelief ]

Denys Molchanov & Vladimir Obradovic (UKR/SRB)  WR 940 vs Neil Pauffley & Alex Ward WR 1506

I imagine Dan & Josh stand a reasonable chance of reaching the QFs, but I'd love to see a couple of upsets from the other lads. pray.gif
