RE: Week 2 - WTA International ($220K) - Hobart, Australia Hard

Bally is second on court today after a match that has just started.

The match is on the schedule for bwin (have to have money in account) so expect a live stream somewhere.

It'll be free on Freedocast: http://www.livescorehunter.com/live-streaming-video-tennis/

Quality is poor, but you can see the ball on the Errani match!

Dokic served 5 DFs during that first set but won 85% on first serve and first serve % was at a lowly 37%

Dokic was actually hitting very well, not a lot that Bally could do.

Although she was getting a disproportionate amount of poor line calls.

Pity, but it was a togh draw.

Onward to the Aus Open, and hope she gets a good draw there.  160 points to defend with last year's Q + L64.

Playing better than last year but the points picked up in qualies not great. Needs a win at Aussie open to maintain ranking.

Bally started off with break points in the 1st, she broke in the 3rd and had break points again in the 5th. Then Dokic remembered how to serve and double faults got replaced by aces. I think Dokic had about two aces in the first set and nine aces in the 2nd set.

Watched the first set, and the drop in standards compared to the previous match (Errani-Oudin, both played some great tennis, some brilliant rallies) was absolutely vast. It was pretty horrible tennis, very few winners or long rallies, loads of errors from both. Dokic was often able to pull out some great wide serves (esp to the ad court) at crucial moments. Bally's '3rd shot' (return of return of serve) was too often a tame push back after a strong return from Dokic, and she wasn't getting a great deal of depth on many shots. Not a particularly impressive display from either of them, and certainly not worth staying up til 4am for! But a good week for Bally in all ;)

^^^ Couldn't agree more with that description, awful match.

What worrys me is her coach saying on twitter it was a quality match, his standards must be pretty low if he thinks it was.
