Fantastic stuff

Lets just hope she avoids Dokic - the Aussie WC would be nice though!

Sadly she got what is probably the worst possible draw under the circumstances:

L32: (Q) Elena Baltacha WR 83 v Jelena Dokic (AUS) WR 56 - 2nd on Centre at c. 01.30 GMT

Winner likely to play (2) Shahar Peer (ISR) WR 30 in R2.

She beats a former top 5 player and another one pops straight up cry

Unfortunately this one is in much better form, having won a couple of 100Ks at the back end of last year.

Very impressive start to the year by Bally, leading as a British number 1 should.  Her coach tweeted "Bally delivered and more, physically, mentally and technically.Very good quality tennis, winners left, right and centre!! Contented,Coach"

To think Chakky was number five, US Open semi-finalist and former champ here...

What went so horribly wrong for her? Yeesh.

Cannot take anything from Bally though. That was a great win, particularly against a player with those credentials. Will be interesting to see if Dokic's serve holds out too. Last year's Aus Open was eye-opening on that account...

Excellent win from Bally and sounds like she fully deserved it.

[Side note: As for Anna, it's a real shame to see talented players in these types of slumps, it must be so dispiriting for her to lose in qualies for an event she's won in the past - hopefully she will get back into winning ways soon]

Great effort from Bally now the main draw which proved very disappointing last week. Chance to put the bad memories from last week to bed.

Great stuff from Bally, annoyed she got Dokic when Ferguson was a possible draw.

on Chak, i think she got to #5 when womens tennis was at its lowest, at best she's a player that would be fighting for a top 10 place.
