Tough draw! Shes lucky Sprem pulled out and gave her the spot...but a bit of match practise will do her good. Much chance of an upset do we think?
On 2nd glance, I feel she got a good enough draw as you could expect at this level. Chans ranking is inflated due to weak asian events, 100ks in particular. And in QR2, should she pull the upset off, she would have a reasonable enough shot too. Good luck to her in QR1 though

A typical Cav display a very bright opening set followed by a dose of reality. Hopefully this will not be a trend followed throughout the whole of 2010.
The telling stat from that match is Cav's 1st serve % of only 39%, compared to Chan's 72% (which was 37% in set 1 helping Naomi to win that set presumably).
Edit : Ah, think I misinterpreted your "just". Are you actually allowed to enter another tournament and keep your options open re qualies ? I guess you clearly can re normal qualifying tournaments and there are such as SEs if you go far in previous tournament ( at least for men, not sure how it works for the women ) but different for majors ? ( certainly no SEs so if it's allowed presume you just would have to pull out of qualies )

Yet another ridiculous scoreline from Naomi, if the match was decided by just first sets than I'd imagine she would be much higher ranked.
Naomi has entered Sydney qualies, but as per the last update she has not made the cut yet. Australian Open qualies starts on Thursday for the women so unless she is still in Sydney on Wednesday night then she can still play both.
